FAQs

What are the dress requirements?

Traditionally, First Communion dresses are white to signify purity. However, many churches will accept ivory or cream.

Do I need to buy a veil or other accessories?

Check church requirements. Most customers do buy a veil but some prefer to just wear a small tiara or other hair decoration. Gloves may not be allowed in church.

I am on a budget. What prices do the dresses start from?

Prices start from c. £70. We have a layaway scheme to help you spread the cost of your communion dress and accessories

My daughter is not a standard size and I can’t find a dress to fit her.

We carry stock from size 6 to size 14. We can also arrange to have your dress altered to ensure a perfect fit if necessary. (extra charge)

What should my Son wear for his Communion?

Check with your school or church for any special requirements. A red communion tie is normally worn, together with dark coloured trousers and a white shirt. We have red communion ties and white shirts in stock.

I already have a communion dress for my daughter. Can i bring it with me when I choose shoes/accessories for my daughter?

Yes, we encourage this!

Do I need to make an appointment to visit you?

During the Holy Communion season (April - June), all dress fittings require an appointment. After-school appointments are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We will always try to accommodate you if it is difficult to get to us during normal working hours.

I don’t want another child to have the same dress as my daughter.

We keep a dress list. We ask every customer who buys a dress from us which school/church they attend and the communion date. We do not then sell the same dress to another child attending the same mass. . Many other retailers operate this system. Please note that although we won’t sell the same dress to another child in the same class, we can’t guarantee they won’t buy the same dress elsewhere.
